ASML Before Q3 Earnings: Why Guidance Matters More Than Bookings

ASML reports Q3 results on October 14. Since 2026, the company no longer publishes quarterly bookings, putting sales, margins and guidance more firmly in focus.

ASML no longer reports quarterly bookings. Ahead of Q3 results, the official sales and gross-margin targets matter — but the durability of the outlook matters even more.

The most watched ASML number is deliberately missing

ASML reports third-quarter results on October 14, 2026. Investors had long been conditioned to look first at new bookings. Since early 2026, however, ASML no longer discloses quarterly bookings. The company said the volatile figure created unnecessary earnings-day swings.

That changes the analysis. Instead of focusing on one order number, the key question is whether operating performance and guidance continue to support investment in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

ASML's official Q3 targets

ASML guided to €11 billion to €12 billion in Q3 sales and a 55% to 57% gross margin. After the second quarter, management also raised its full-year 2026 outlook to €43 billion to €45 billion in sales with a 54% to 56% gross margin.

That leaves investors with three practical questions:

  1. Do sales and margins land within the stated Q3 ranges?
  2. Does the raised full-year outlook remain intact?
  3. Does management's commentary confirm continued customer investment in EUV and advanced lithography systems?

Why it matters for the AI value chain

ASML sits near the front of the semiconductor value chain. Investment in leading-edge manufacturing capacity is an important signal for future supply of AI accelerators, memory and other high-performance chips. The report therefore matters beyond ASML, offering context for foundries, chip designers and equipment suppliers.

One quarterly data point can be noisy. A consistent picture across demand, capacity plans and margins is more informative.

The signal

The bookings number has disappeared, but the core question has not: How durable is the outlook? That is likely to be the real test of the report.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Without quarterly bookings, ASML's guidance becomes the more useful signal for the semiconductor value chain.

NextSignal Assessment

For ASML, the quality of the outlook matters more than one volatile order number.
